Supreme Novice Hurdle

I am going to side with Mydaddypaddy (8/1) for the Skelton team.

Many will have been disappointed with his effort in the Formby however there were obstacles omitted on that day and in a wide open contest, you can make a case against some that are towards the head of the market. Mighty Park is likely to go off as favourite yet he has barely seen a rival to date with just the one start in a weak maiden hurdle and that leaves plenty of questions to answer with regards to how he will handle undulations, going left-handed, having to perform a championship pace, and if he will take to this course.

Nicky Henderson has been seemingly lukewarm on Old Park Star and given that he could be want to go forward along with Sober Glory, I can see this setting up for something coming from off the pace and Mydaddypaddy will no doubt travel strongly into the race and I think it’s a great bet as the first leg, especially if being played as an each-way multiple.

The Arkle

This looks to be all about the top of the market with Kopek Des Bordes @ 6/4 & Lulamba. I think that the former of the pair could well be a little bit special and even though he has just had the one start under rules, I think he can still come in here and be difficult to beat.

The Boodles

Munsif would certainly be my play in this race but with him needing a horse to come out of the race to get a run I’m going to air on the side of caution and go with Winston Junior @ 7/1

This horse could easily be competing in the grade 1 juvenile event on Friday but instead has taken up this engagement and has an unbelievably eye-catching Jockey booking in the shape of Jack Kennedy.

The Ultima

The Short Go (18/1) has effectively been campaigned as a British trained horse with all of his appearances this season having come in the UK and all of them have been here, at Cheltenham. He’s no stranger to the track and has run in plenty of competitive handicaps at this venue and his record here is positive:

As mentioned, he has been exclusively campaigned at Cheltenham this season with two starts before the turn of the year and now sits on an attractive handicap mark of 138 and given how Henry De Bromhead has campaigned him, he has not been burdened with a further hike or opened himself up to the potential of a greater “Irish tax” from the UK handicapper.

Some of that Cheltenham form is also very encouraging with him ahead of The Doyen Chief in December who went on to win a class 3 handicap at Kempton before putting up another good run at the same venue in the Ladbrokes Trophy.

Champion Hurdle

Lossiemouth @ 2/1 looks set to take a chance in this year’s race and I think there are plenty of question marks to answer for the other main protagonists.

The New Lion wants further, Brighterdaysahead has been poor at the track on two occasions already and seems to get queasy at the sight of the stiff finish here at Cheltenham. Golden Ace has been the beneficiary of a couple of 2m races falling apart and that leads me to only want to get involved with the Ricci mare who is unbeaten at the course having won four from four and seems to come alive every March.

For me, she will take all the beating here.

The Plate

O’Moore Park @ 18/1 who is available to be backed with the non-runner, no bet concession and there’s plenty to like about him in the intermediate handicap chase on day one.

He ran a fantastic race when finishing third in last year‘s novice handicap and was clearly competing amongst great quality horses on that day with the winner going on to score graded honours at Aintree. O’Moore Park then returned to Cheltenham for the April meeting where he was no early denied by a well handicap and Skelton horse put that further enforced his liking for the track.

There’s also been some nice form this season when stepped up in trip and tried over further which resulted in a 5th place finish in a big field handicap at Leopardstown over the festive period but more notably was his 2nd to Oscar’s Brother at Galway when just over 3L back and that was no disgrace given that the winner is now as short as 8/1 in places for the Brown Advisory Novice Chase.

When many are looking for unexposed and younger horses for most of their handicap during the week this race continues to be a bit of an outlier with experience having come to the fore on numerous occasions in recent years.

From the last 15 renewals a horse aged 9 or older has landed this prize on 7 occasions and three of the last four winners were:

2022 – Coole Cody (11 Years Old)
2023 – Seddon (10 Years Old)
2024 – Shakem Up’Arry (10 Years Old)

This could be the year that Willie finally wins a Handicap Chase at the festival and I’m willing to follow the line of thinking with my pocket and am advising O’Moore Park as a bet.

Prize Pool

The bet365 6 Horses Challenge offers several chances to win, with prizes available even if you don’t get every selection correct. The top prize is a share of the £100,000 jackpot for predicting all six winners, but there are also rewards for five, four or even three correct picks.

The £100,000 prize for six correct selections represents the maximum possible payout and assumes there is only one winner. If multiple entrants correctly predict all six horses, the prize pool will be shared equally between them. The 6 Horses Challenge is a free-to-play promotion and is separate from standard bet placement, meaning other bet365 offers do not apply.

Only one entry is permitted per person for each round of 6 Horses Challenge. bet365 monitors the use of multiple accounts by the same individual or group. If bet365 has reasonable grounds to suspect that an individual(s) has submitted multiple entries either by themselves or in collusion with a group of people then all entries for that individual(s) will become null and void.

You participate in 6 Horses Challenge by predicting the winner of each of the nominated races, as displayed in the 6 Horses Challenge section. Entry for each round is available until the first race starts, and your existing entries can also be edited until this time (including if your bet contains a non-runner). If non-runners are not changed before entry closes, such selection(s) will revert to the unnamed favourite (according to standard settlement rules).

A disqualified selection will be deemed a loser.

The races included in each round of 6 Horses Challenge are determined solely by bet365.
For the purposes of settling a 6 Horses Challenge game, results are based on the official result after the weigh-in; Double Result concessions do not count.

In the event of a dead heat between two or more horses in any of the races, all off the horses that dead heat as winners will be treated as full winners for the purpose of that particular round.

Prizes

The available prizes for each round are displayed in the 6 Horses Challenge section.

Where a race/meeting is abandoned or otherwise void for normal settlement, that race will no longer count towards 6 Horses Challenge. The prize structure for that round will be amended according to the number of remaining races. If 1 race is abandoned, all prizes will be reduced by 50%. If 2 races are abandoned, the entire round of 6 Horses Challenge will be settled as void.

Prizes for each round of 6 Horses Challenge game will be credited once the result of the final relevant race is known.

The prize value displayed for six correct predictions is the maximum available based on a single winner and will be reduced in the event of a shared prize-pool. If more than one entrant predicts six correct results, the total amount of applicable prize-money will be shared equally between all entrants involved.

For payment of large prizes, winners may be contacted directly by bet365.

Your account may be subject to standard verification checks prior to withdrawal of winnings from a 6 Horses Challenge prize.

Any prize money will only be returned to the named account holder.
