The Supreme Novices’ Hurdle is the traditional curtain raiser to the Cheltenham Festival and rarely fails to deliver drama.

Last year, Willie Mullins saddled Kopek Des Bordes to land the spoils at cramped odds. This time, the Closutton handler does not appear to hold an obvious standout, leaving the 2026 renewal looking far more open.
Old Park Star, trained by Nicky Henderson, heads the betting with Paddy Power after a dominant display in the Rossington Main made it three wins from three over hurdles.
His profile has strengthened with each run and he sets the standard among the British contingent.
Talk The Talk sits second in the non runner no bet market following his success at the Dublin Racing Festival, which established him as Ireland’s leading hope at this stage.
El Cairos is also prominent in the early lists after an eye catching hurdles debut, even though he was unseated at the final obstacle. He had previously finished fifth in the Champion Bumper.
