Majborough has emerged as a major player after sharpening up his jumping and producing a polished display at the Dublin Racing Festival.

Majborough has not always been the most reliable jumper but his most recent performance suggested things may be coming together. The addition of cheekpieces appeared to sharpen his focus and he produced an impressive display that underlined his raw ability.

The race has lost some of its shine with the absence of last year’s winner Marine Nationale, but it still promises to be a fascinating contest. One of the main dangers could come from L’Eau du Sud, who has been trained with this race firmly in mind.

Trained by Dan Skelton, L’Eau du Sud has not been seen since finishing third in the Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown. However he already has strong Cheltenham form after a commanding victory over course and distance in the Shloer Chase in November, where he produced an impressive performance to beat Jonbon convincingly.

The Dan Skelton runner arrives fresh for the Festival and if Majborough were to revert to old jumping errors, he could be well placed to take advantage.

SELECTION: L’Eau du Sud @ 7/2
